ABOUT DANNY

Born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Danny English is an award-winning composer and an educator with a passion for teaching individuals of all ages the art of telling stories through music with his insightful piano and composition lessons.  A graduate of the Baldwin Wallace Conservatory of Music with graduate degrees from Carnegie Mellon University, Danny has seen his music performed both stateside and internationally, earning recognition for the compelling emotions and narratives found within his scores.  In 2025, he won multiple awards for his compositions, including 2nd Prize in the Belgian World Piano Day International Composition Competition for his piano concerto Colluctatio and being named a 2025 Suncoast Composer Fellow for his Suite for Clarinet & Piano.  In past years, Danny and his music have appeared in festivals across the country and in Ireland.  Some of Danny’s music was even sent into outer space as part of the MoonArk Project, and copies of which can be found in the permanent collection at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum.  Danny also designs custom music cues for content creators and for media.  Recent collaborations included the Ultimate Cleveland Sports Show and the Pittsburgh 48 Hour Film Project.  As an educator, Danny tailors his instruction to each student’s needs and interests, thereby helping the students learn the skills necessary to create the music that delights them most.  And for the past ten years, Danny has used his love of diverse music styles to lead a dynamic music program for the congregation of the Aspinwall Presbyterian Church as their music director.  In honor of his years of teaching and making music in their community, the Borough of Aspinwall, Pennsylvania,  declared April 9, 2025, to be “Danny English Day.”
